I’ve recently taken over Dennis’s product: courses. He currently sells three courses on Udemy that he created when teaching on YouTube full time. For this reason, they are a bit outdated with the design and a few other things so I had some work to do. Although, Dennis has the most work to do with scripting, filming, editing and reviewing the updated videos.
My main focus has been the Python/Django course.
Here are some things I went for right away:
Have Dennis update the course and source code to Django 5, the latest version.
Update the thumbnail and title from “Django 2021” to “Django 5”.
Add a better description to the course.
Went through the accessibility checklist provided by Udemy.
Increase course rating from 4.43 to above a 4.5. I took advantage of Udemy’s Marketplace Insights to research the “Django” keyword and saw that 37% more enrollments were going to courses rated above 4.5 stars. Thankfully we went weren’t far off.
Before these updates, sales were averaging 5-7 sales a day (on Udemy, “sale” days is when the courses are significantly discounted which is usually the only time people purchase courses on Udemy) now averaging 10-30 sales a day.
The next step is to continue updating the videos, add a banner linking to the course on Dennis’s website, and test more thumbnails.
We’re really happy with the results so far but there’s definitely a lot more work to do!
